A Guide to Consultations with Smithtown, NY Mold Removal Companies

Mold remediation refers to the process of assessing and removing existing mold growth and preventing the resurgence of a future problem. Because it’s so important, hiring a Smithtown, NY mold removal professional is essential. How can you do that? By having consultations with a few different mold removal companies, of course!

What is a mold removal consultation?

When you contact mold remediation companies, the first thing they’ll need to do is assess the mold growth in your Suffolk County property. Based on the assessment, a company will let you know how long it will take to complete the job, and how much it will cost to remove and clean the affected area. This initial meeting is known as a consultation, and it’s a crucial part of the mold remediation process.

Is there a difference between a consultation and an inspection?

After you experience water damage, you spot mold growth, or you suspect hidden mold is growing in your Suffolk County home or business, rather than calling a Smithtown, NY mold removal company, you might want to call in a mold inspector.

Typically, an inspector will look for signs that indicate future mold growth could occur; high humidity levels or excessive amounts of moisture, for example. If the inspector finds that the conditions are right for future mold growth, they’ll let you know and they’ll recommend mold removal companies, as an inspector is unable to perform remediation.

During a consultation, mold removal experts will assess your Suffolk County property to determine what course of action to take; what type of equipment and supplies will be needed, and what kinds of strategies to employ.

What happens during consultations with mold removal companies?

Some information about Smithtown, NY

Smithtown is a town in Suffolk County, New York, United States, on the North Shore of Long Island. It is part of the New York metropolitan area. The population was 117,801 at the 2010 Census.

Smithtown, originally known as ‘Smithfield’, was first settled around 1665. Local legend has it that, after rescuing a Native American chief’s abducted daughter, Richard Smith was told that the chief would grant title to all of the land Smith could encircle in one day ‘on a bull’. Smith chose to ride the bull on the longest day of the year (summer solstice), to enable him to ride longer ‘in one day’. The land he acquired in this way is said to approximate the current town’s location. There is a large anatomically correct statue of Smith’s bull, known as Whisper, at the fork of Jericho Turnpike (New York State Route 25) and St. Johnland Road (New York State Route 25A).

Main Street, Smithtown

The border between Smithtown and the town of Huntington is partially defined by Bread and Cheese Hollow Road (Suffolk County Road 4), so named after Bread and Cheese hollow, which according to legend is where Smith stopped on his ride to have a lunch of bread and cheese. The road is reputed to follow part of his original ride. The border between Smithtown and Huntington was also the site of Fort Salonga, a British fort that was the site of a battle of the American Revolution during 1781.

The Smithtown hamlet of Nesconset, New York, was the home of Spaceplex, an indoor amusement park and arcade that was falsely accused of being the abduction site in the Katie Beers kidnapping case in 1992.
