Floodwater Contains Dangerous Contaminants
There are three different categories of water damage:
While gray and black floodwaters are the most obvious causes for concern, fresh water can also be concerning. To minimize the risk of exposure to dangerous contaminants, microbes, and biohazards, hiring a flood damage restoration professional immediately following a flood is imperative.
Floodwater Leads to Mold Growth
Mold thrives in moist, damp places; hence why mold growth is common after a flood. Even if the water appears to be gone, building materials and furnishings that have absorbed moisture, as well as heightened humidity levels, can invite mold growth. Mold can be toxic and can cause extensive structural damage; hence why hiring a Roslyn, NY water damage restoration professional right after your Nassau County home has suffered a flood is vital.
Reduced Costs
Cleaning up after a flood can be costly, no matter what; however, the longer you wait to address the problem, the more expensive it will be. The longer standing water and moisture remain, the more damage your Nassau County property will sustain, and the more expensive the repairs will be. To reduce the risk of prolonged, extensive damage and exorbitant repairs, hiring a flood damage restoration professional right away is essential.

Roslyn is a village in the Town of North Hempstead in Nassau County, on the North Shore of Long Island, in New York, United States. It is the Greater Roslyn area’s anchor community. The population was 2,770 at the 2010 census.
Roslyn was initially settled by colonists in the year 1643. Originally, Roslyn was called Hempstead Harbor, but its name was changed to Roslyn in 1844 due to postal confusion regarding all the other ‘Hempsteads’ scattered about Long Island. The name ‘Roslyn’ was selected as the new name, as its location in a valley reminded officials of Roslin, Scotland.
Roslyn was incorporated as a village on January 11, 1932. Its first Mayor was Anton E. Walbridge.
The Ellen E. Ward Memorial Clock Tower in Roslyn was designed by Lamb and Rich, and was completed in 1895. It was sold to the Village of Roslyn by the Town of North Hempstead for $1 for its centennial in 1995.
